Things we learned moving here

  • GP: registering online needs no passport or proof of address, but the form won't go through until you've arrived in the UK.
  • Council Tax: a home of full-time students pays nothing, but ticking "student" isn't enough. You have to fill in a separate form.
  • Deposit: if your annual rent is under £50,000, the deposit is capped at 5 weeks' rent and a holding deposit at 1 week.
